Doolittle’s Dispensary
Project
As the first UK website to offer animal lovers the chance to create a personalised pet healthcare programme, we knew that the Doolittle’s Dispensary project was going to be extra special from the get-go… Our clients were after a site with an accessible and approachable feel, and which clearly highlighted their unique offering. They also asked us to ensure that the design aesthetic and tone appealed primarily to their target female audience.
Creative
Based solely online, Doolittle’s Dispensary offers a number of different services to its customers. Users can subscribe to a course of preventative flea and worming medication, with each item sent individually at the time when it should be administered to their pet to ensure that a treatment never gets missed. The site also needed to allow customers to browse and purchase a variety of healthcare products, including prescription medication for cats, dogs, horses and rabbits, and read specialised pet advice articles written by qualified vets.
With so much information to incorporate, we put lots of careful thought into the best way to present the site, as well as build the backend system.
We developed a bespoke site based on the CakePHP framework that allowed for the additional functionality required for this particular e-commerce website; our client will be able to use this to update their site and monitor the multifaceted email notifications system.
We knew that getting the tone of the website right was vital, and worked closely with our clients to populate the site with engaging, informative copy.
To build a sense of the Doolittle’s brand, each page was designed with consistency in mind. We even created a Doctor Doolittle character, as well as a whole bunch of cartoon furry friends that are featured throughout the website.
Upshots
As the website has only just launched, we can’t yet report on its success, but we’re certain that our clients – who are delighted with the finished design – will soon be reaping the rewards of their (and our!) hard work.
