Our place is in the kitchen

We call ourselves the handbag strategists because we’re creators of original work that particularly appeals to the ladies.

‘How do you do it?’ we hear you cry. ‘Because women are the influencers of 80% of all purchases and we want to know how to talk to them!’

Mercifully, a woman’s place is now in banks and boardrooms, in colleges and professional institutes, in restaurants and cars, on holidays and in shops, and they’re only in the kitchen when they want to be. We, however, are usually to be found in our metaphorical kitchen cooking up a creative storm. And this is how we do it.

Right. You need to dish up a feast and you need our help. We meet. We talk. You tell us about your products, services and objectives. We agree a budget and propositions. You tell us if anyone’s got a nut allergy. We collaborate and have a good think about what might or might not be on the menu. Everything goes in the pot.

Ingredient gathering

Pull out the recipe books – that’s the laptops, books, mags, internet and the memory banks – to inspire fresh ideas. Throw visuals and concepts into the mix. Try new combinations of thoughts. Discover that marmite doesn’t go with jam but that goat’s cheese does. Mull things over. Go by intellect, information and instinct. Never underestimate gut-feel.

This is the bit that even the greatest philosophers have failed to fully explain. There’s no formula for creativity (although personally we think it starts with curiosity + courage). We could ponder it forever but now there’s a classic new dish to be prepared. So, we sort the wheat from the chaff, thinking, looking, thinking all the time, and select only the finest, freshest ideas to share with you.

Now we take our lovely new ideas and think about who’s coming to dinner. How do we make it the best they’ve ever had? Neither over- nor under-done, and beautifully presented wherever it will be seen and sampled… The heat is on, and we keep on tasting as we go along. We’re good, of course, but we’ll always get in specialist visual, digital, written or strategic talent to help us where it’s needed.
